TIP OF THE DAY — DIOPTER

If your photos look soft but your focus settings are correct, check your diopter.
The diopter adjusts the viewfinder sharpness for your eyes, not the lens or sensor.

How to adjust your camera’s diopter:

  • Look through your camera’s viewfinder or EVF (electronic viewfinder)

  • Point at an image or text

  • Turn the diopter wheel/dial until your image is sharp.

A misaligned diopter can make perfectly focused images look out of focus through the viewfinder while you’re shooting. The diopter doesn’t affect the photo itself—but it does affect how you see while making it. Keeping it properly set helps you work with confidence and ease.

As always, best of luck!
