TIP OF THE DAY — WHAT IS THE “P” SETTING ON YOUR CAMERA’S MODE DIAL?

If you’ve ever wondered what the “P” mode on your camera dial means, you’re not alone. The P stands for Program Mode, and it’s one of the most practical camera settings for beginners who want to understand exposure without going fully manual.

In Program Mode, your camera automatically selects both the aperture and shutter speed for a balanced exposure — but here’s the difference from Auto mode: you still have control. You can fine-tune your ISO, white balance, and exposure compensation.

Think of it as a flexible hybrid between Auto and Manual — ideal when lighting changes quickly, or when you want to stay focused on composition rather than fiddling with every setting.

Quick takeaway: Program Mode gives you creative control with just the right amount of automation. It’s a perfect place to start learning how your camera “thinks” about exposure.

As always, best of luck!
