TIP OF THE DAY — DEFINING THE ELUSIVE MEANING OF ISO
ISO stands for International Organization for Standardization—but in photography, it simply measures your camera sensor’s sensitivity to light.
A low ISO (like 100) means your camera is less sensitive to light—great for bright, outdoor conditions with minimal image noise.
A high ISO (like 3200 or above) boosts sensitivity, letting you shoot in darker settings—but can introduce visible grain.
ISO measures your camera sensor’s sensitivity to light.
Start low when possible, and only raise ISO when you need more light without changing your aperture or shutter speed.
As always, best of luck!
