FUJI’S 180 SHUTTER SPEED VALUE: WHAT IT REALLY MEANS
That “180” marking on your Fuji camera’s shutter speed dial refers to 1/180 of a second, and it’s a special sync speed for flash photography.
Here’s what it means in simple terms!
1/180 sec is the fastest shutter speed you can use with flash without risking a dark band across your photo. This happens when the shutter curtains aren’t fully open during the flash burst.
Fuji marks this speed on the dial because their mechanical shutter sync tops out at 1/180 s — a little slower than most cameras which sync at 1/200 or 1/250.
If you’re not using flash, just treat it like a normal shutter speed. It sits between 1/125 s and 1/250 s and it won’t affect your photography.
If you are using flash, keep your shutter at 1/180 s or slower like 1/125 or 1/60.
